A few posts down from here, probably about five, you’ll find some advice on what steps to take if you’re keen on helping protect those who might be more vunerable or not so clued up from falling for scams. Honestly, it’s about having a bit of heart and a bit of awareness to bother reporting these dodgy calls to the right places to hopefully stop them spreading.

A couple of comments down explain ways to help put an end to these scams and why just blocking numbers might not be enough. Reporting these incidents is just as quick as leaving a comment here. It won’t fix things overnight, but right now the police aren’t fully aware of how widespread this problem is or the newest tricks being used. If everyone who receives these annoying calls and messages doesn’t report them and raise a fuss with their MP, nothing will change to stop these dishonest crooks.

I receive calls from this number on a weekly basis, and they only ring for about 20 seconds. Even though I’ve blocked them, my phone refuses to let me escape their relentless pursuit. It feels like the number is being shuffled around amongst various call handlers. During my summer break from uni, I briefly took up a role in a call centre, but I lasted barely two days. Each rejected call just gets transferred to another agent, creating a never-ending loop. The place had 48 operators and let me tell you, the script we were forced to follow was utterly dreadful - downright invasive, if I’m honest. I’ve sworn off ever working in a call centre again.
