Got a call from a woman claiming it was about PPI from Barclays before 2012. She already had my husband's full name, DOB, email and even our home address. I was daft and ended up confirming some info. She mentioned she’d email us to sign something electronically and asked for copies of passports or driving licences to proceed with the claim. Thankfully, I didn’t send any docs as things felt a bit off and I had my doubts.

Then I asked what exactly it was about, and they just threw out “mortgage, store card, credit card, all sorts really”. My response was pretty blunt, let’s just say it wasn’t polite! It’s mad how these scam callers don’t get that plenty of people are wise to their tricks now. Honestly, they ought to find a real job instead of bothering us!

Got a call last night around 9pm from a woman who sounded quite pleasant. She told me someone had messed with my Amazon account and asked for my info to "check some stuff". I told her I don’t even have an Amazon account, and then she just hung up on me.

A few posts down from here, probably about five, you’ll find some advice on what steps to take if you’re keen on helping protect those who might be more vunerable or not so clued up from falling for scams. Honestly, it’s about having a bit of heart and a bit of awareness to bother reporting these dodgy calls to the right places to hopefully stop them spreading.

The number showed up as possible spam, and since I was just sitting around with nothing much to do, I figured why not pick up and hear what nonsense these jokers have to say. Turns out, they were trying to convince me I could get a massive payout from some fresh PPI claim. A couple of comments down explain ways to help put an end to these scams and why just blocking numbers might not be enough. Reporting these incidents is just as quick as leaving a comment here. It won’t fix things overnight, but right now the police aren’t fully aware of how widespread this problem is or the newest tricks being used. If everyone who receives these annoying calls and messages doesn’t report them and raise a fuss with their MP, nothing will change to stop these dishonest crooks.

I get calls from the same number every week, they ring for about 20 seconds then hang up. Even though I’ve blocked it, my phone just rejects it straight away but they still keep dialing. I reckon the number gets handed off between different call handlers constantly. When I was on summer break from uni, I tried a job at a call centre for like two days tops. If a call got rejected, it got passed onto another rep, and this just went on endlessly. There were about 48 people working there, and the script we had to use was awful, really annoying. Honestly, never gonna work in a call centre again.
