Received a call bright and early at 8.15 this morning, and it didn’t take long for me to clock that it was a dodgy scam. They were trying to drag me into a so-called court appearance regarding a made-up tax evasion case. Instead of falling for their nonsense, I decided to turn the tables and gather some information from the chap on the other end. He claimed to be from HM Revenue and Customs in Edinburgh, and he threw out a case number - CVVR 2749, along with some personal identification number that sounded fishy, 19471, and a phone number (0161 546 6046). When he realised I wasn’t playing along, he just lost it, calling me an idiot and then telling me to F*** OFF. Clearly, his scheme was to extract some cash from me via email today, but that was never going to happen!
