Got a call from 01615323247 saying I’d won £40 to spend on shopping. The bloke also mentioned some free 3 month membership that would save me more money on shopping, hotels and that sort of thing. When I asked how much the membership was after the free period, he told me it was £168.00. I just said no cheers and hung up, then blocked the number straight away.

The best way to tackle these scams is by reporting them to Action Fraud. I shared the info on how to do this in a post on 31/01. These scammers count on people not bothering to take action, which is why they keep getting away with it. If you don’t report them, please don’t moan about how bad they are or get too upset if someone you know is caught out. Reporting actually takes less time than writing comments here. Also, the Channel 5 documentary about phone scams is definitely worth watching on catch-up.
