I received several calls recently from a bloke named Stephen who said he was with O2, trying to persuade me to upgrade my mobile. He knew both my name and number, which was rather unsettling. After not hearing from them for a while, I had to replace my phone as it finally gave up the ghost. The staff at the O2 shop in South Liverpool were absolutely brilliant, assisting me in securing a fantastic deal, and even accepting my old device as part of the trade-in. However, ever since then, I've been bombarded with calls from this number again. Unfortunately, my previous phone wouldn’t restart at all, and I couldn’t access it to wipe any personal details. I've started to get a bit anxious, wondering if my former device might have fallen into the wrong hands. I really hope O2 is stringent enough to prevent any such mishaps from occurring.

Claimed to be from O2, ringing in from London, although the number belongs to Manchester. Mentioned I was eligible for an upgrade and even had the name of the individual responsible for the phone bill. When I probed him about the dodgy nature of his call, he replied, ‘I haven’t asked for your details, how could that be a scam?’ I reckon this is just a clever ploy to create a connection before attempting a proper con once they’ve wormed their way into your good graces.
