Got loads of these quiet calls and it’s clear it’s some sorta scam. Pretty obvious if you ask me.

Really annoying calls from this number 01615247844 popped up today, probably the same firm. I’ve blocked it straight away. If they don’t manage to get you on one number, they just ring again using another that looks nearly identical. They sure don’t quit easily. It's baffling how these folks feel okay taking money off honest people who’ve worked hard. Why not find a real job instead and maybe feel a bit proud of yourself?

Got a ring from this number around 16:12 on 29th September 2023. The person said the Government decided that the insulation in our loft wasn’t allowed and had to be changed. Tried telling Action Fraud but they couldn’t be bothered. Also got a call like this one from 0161 524 3270 at about 9:14 on the 20th of September.

Like someone else mentioned earlier, I really don’t understand why there’s not more action taken against these scammers. It seems like phone providers don’t mind as long as they’re getting paid, to be honest. I set up my answerphone to handle calls from any numbers I don’t recognise and it’s been brilliant. Honestly, getting a phone that automatically picks up with an answerphone is the way to go - they’re really affordable, around £20 or so nowadays. Definitely worth upgrading your old one, you’ll be glad you did.

What worries me is that even though we can see straight through these scams and have a chuckle, older folks, raised in times when people generally trusted each other more, might fall victim to these fraudsters. They tend to believe the so-called 'government' truly cares about them, but sadly, that’s not always the case. It’s not like some dodgy person is popping round to their home, tinkering with their heating and then charging them a grand for it.

Proper pain this is, especially since my elderly uncle who’s poorly lives up in Manchester. Had to block the number now. Feels like the phone providers (ours being Virginmedia) can’t seem to do anything about these calls or filter them out.

Had a call from an automated scammer pretending to be ‘Lee’ claiming he was nearby and their system showed my loft insulation wasn’t up to standard or some nonsense. I told them I actually live in a caravan with no loft at all. The bloke just said ‘oh right’ and then asked if I wanted a quote for loft insulation. I just ended the call there and then. I’m on the TPS list and can’t understand why these dodgy calls still keep coming through.

Got a call from a woman talking about insulation and trying to set up a free survey. She just wouldn’t accept a polite no, kept going over her pitch again and again. I've had a right nuisance of robocalls lately, all from the same monotonous voice, but I've been a bit remiss in checking the number each time. It’s quite pathetic, really, the way they try to masquerade as a human being. The spiel is supposedly about insulating lofts, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a scam; I haven’t bothered sticking around long enough to find out. Regardless, I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so I shouldn’t even be receiving these calls in the first place.
