My 88 year old mum got a phone call from someone pretending to be a care service. We’re actually in the process of organising some sort of alarm system for her, and just the day before she’d given her landline number to the real care provider. Because she knows we’re trying to sort out a pendant or wrist alarm, she ended up giving these fraudsters her bank info - something she’d never usually do. I’ve contacted the proper company to let them know, as I reckon their data might have been compromised. The bank card’s been cancelled now, and it’s really upset my mum.

Got a call about some kind of pendant alarm thingy, supposedly from a firm named Safeguard. They were trying to get us to pay £39.99 over six months for an upgraded gadget for my mother-in-law, saying after the payments we'd actually own it. Seemed a bit fishy though, cos when I asked for any real contact details, they just went silent and then hung up. Feels like one of those scams going after elderly folks, so watch out.

Similar to other posts, I got a call from someone with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from Medicare. They said they were sending me some kind of pendant device but never asked if I wanted it. Didn’t even bother to check who they were actually talking to. Then they went on about whether I understood everything - well, obviously I did. I’m not daft. Ended up hanging up on me, likely because they realised I wasn’t falling for their scam. I wouldn’t be surprised if the number was faked as well.

The person on the line had a strong Indian or Pakistani accent and introduced himself as 'Roger from Medicare.' He tried to convince me to buy some kind of wrist gadget that tracks your health and warns you if something's wrong. I said I wasn't interested and he immediately got quite rude. I ended the call quickly and blocked the number straight away.
