The phone rang from a similar number last week, but I didn’t manage to pick up before they hung up. When I checked today, it turns out the call came from the same area code as before. That previous call was from a company selling solar panels. My son used to work at a call centre like that, and he said they had to stick to a very firm script aimed mainly at older folks, pushing solar panels quite hard. Because of that, I always stay wary when I get calls like these out of the blue.

This number called me and it was one of those automated ones with a list of choices. After going through the options, it just kept ringing so I ended the call straight away. I'm used to companies not caring about actual customer service, relying on bots to deal with calls, but when they call you and use bots, I reckon they’re just trying to waste your time or get something from you. If I can’t get through to a real person without extra charges, I just hang up. I’d rather talk to someone face to face on the phone - feels better to vent to a human than a machine, and they’re not likely to get you into trouble for having a moan!
