I don't keep my phone on much since I'm always driving. So when a private number rang and they called me by my name, saying something about a bump I had, I just laughed out loud. Told them to try their luck elsewhere and hung up. Honestly, if it's a stranger, just say goodbye and end the call.

The caller said they were from HMRC and warned me to press 1 or else I’d be facing arrest.

I doubt this was really HMRC calling, the automated voice told me to hit 1 to avoid any legal trouble.
