Phone number ☎️ 01615211812 👆 is reported as a persistent and threatening HMRC-related scam involving automated calls with American or strong foreign accents, often naming a fake officer such as Shirley Jones. Callers claim unpaid taxes and threaten urgent legal action, including court proceedings or imprisonment, demanding immediate callbacks - sometimes suggesting settling debts over the phone. These calls often spoof genuine HMRC numbers and use intimidating language to pressure victims, including older or vulnerable individuals, but HMRC never contacts by phone for such matters and always communicates in writing. Recipients are advised not to engage or return calls, to block the numbers, and report incidents to HMRC’s official phishing team as these are fraudulent attempts to steal money or personal information.

Seems I've stumbled upon a rather rudimentary autodialler that can’t quite navigate its way past my voicemail. All I ended up with was a rather abrupt “goodbye” in the recording. My flatmate, who happened to catch the tail end of the call, got a bit anxious, thinking I’d been issued a legal warning regarding some tax matter. I had to set him straight-it’s always the tax office that sends letters, not calls. That’s how they ensure communication reaches the right person and maintains the necessary documentation of their correspondence. So, it’s glaringly obvious this was nothing but a dodgy scam call.

Without a doubt, this was another dodgy scam call supposedly from the tax office trying to con someone out of their cash. The voicemail they left was awful, sounded like a right joke. The person on the phone couldn’t even give your proper tax reference or explain your tax code correctly. According to the rules, the tax department always has to send any updates about your tax in a written letter with full details - calling you out of the blue like this just isn’t how they do things.

I blocked the call on my phone, but they still left a voicemail. It was some automated American voice pretending to be from HMRC warning me to get in touch with their "investigation team" or else I'd have to deal with "legal repercussions". Absolutely ignore this number and don’t ring them back!

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, but it was one of those automated robotic voices. It told me to ring them back else I’d face legal trouble. Definitely a scam!

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC, but it was a scam - best thing is just to put the phone down straight away.
