Picked up the phone and a lady was asking for me, so I asked who she was and what was it about. She just said I should let her talk, so I told her to at least say where she’s calling from first. Then, abruptly, she hung up. No idea what she was after. I’m definitely blocking that number now.

Those scammers are a right pain. I've already put in a report with Action Fraud, it's pretty straightforward. Just search for Action Fraud on the UK police website and you'll see a link to report stuff. Once you're there, head to the phishing section, give the info a quick read, and then at the bottom you can start your complaint. It’s mostly ticking boxes over a few pages, but you can add details if you want. Honestly, loads of these scams fly under the radar because hardly anyone bothers reporting. The cops have no clue how bad it really is.

got a robocall once about getting permission to talk about my life insurance, then a different person rang me from another number. this time it was a real person talking about life insurance. when i asked if they were sure they had the right person, they wanted my name. i asked them who they were trying to reach instead, and as soon as i said that, they just ended the call. quite dodgy if you ask me.
