Received a dodgy call that pretended to come from a Manchester area code, but it turned out to be linked to a number in Pakistan, with Twilio Ireland Limited behind it, situated at 3 Dublin Landings, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 D01 C4E0. If you're looking to raise an issue about this blatant number masking, you can drop a line to [email protected] and [email protected]. Additionally, you might want to file a complaint through their proxy documentation at https://www.twilio.com/docs/proxy. Phantom calls - every time I pick up, the line goes dead, but there's definitely some call centre chatter lingering in the background.

Today, I received a call from a chap who purported to work for a UK mobile network, offering me a bargain deal on a phone. However, after doing a bit of digging on this number, I realised it didn't belong to any legitimate UK mobile company. Clearly, this is nothing more than a scam attempt.

Got a call from a number that seemed like a scam. I decided to pick up anyway. The person said, “Hi, how’re you today?” I replied, “Can you tell me who this is and why you’re calling?” Then they just ended the call. Strange behaviour if you ask me.

I get why people have a gripe about these scam calls, but just complaining won’t sort it. There’s actually some info down below on what you can do. It might take a bit of time, say half an hour or so, but contacting your MP could lead to some surprising responses. When you write, make sure you clearly explain the issue and ask about why criminals are using fake and spoofed UK landline numbers. Keep in mind, it’s not just annoying - these scams dupe vulnerable folks and they end up getting scammed out of their money.
