I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying there’s some income tax fraud and that I’m going to be arrested. The woman told me to look up the number online and ring back. She also said something like, “We don’t have to prove our identity to you.” I told her I wouldn’t give any details over the phone and to put it all in writing instead.
