Got a call from this number earlier, didn’t pick up but checked the voicemail. It was some recorded message with an American accent saying they were Officer Monica Todd from the Inland Revenue and that I needed to ring back straight away or else there’d be legal trouble if they didn’t hear from me or my lawyer. Knowing the Inland Revenue aren’t contacting anyone right now because of the whole Coronavirus situation, I didn’t buy it for a second. Figured I’d see what others have said about it here.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Officer Monica Todd from HMRC saying I owed unpaid taxes. I told them I pay my taxes, but they kept threatening to take me to court if I didn’t call back. It felt really harassing and made me suspicious. They actually tried this trick on me back in 2017, but luckily my daughter warned me it was a scam. Glad I didn’t fall for it again!

I got a recorded message like that too. When I phoned back, I ended up talking to a bloke with a thick foreign accent. He said his name was Jason Smith, but he was really dodgy and wouldn’t answer any of my questions properly. What freaked me out was that he already had my date of birth and address. Felt like a complete scam. I told him I’d report it to the police, then he just cut me off.
