I received a rather pushy international sales call about some insurance for televisions. They just wouldn’t take no for an answer. After quite a bit of back and forth, I managed to extract their website address (positiveprotectionuk.com), but it turned out to be a no-go as the phone number was disconnected and Google couldn’t find a match for their site either! I've gone ahead and reported them to Trading Standards and the ICO. To make matters worse, they absolutely refuse to delete my elderly stepdad's landline number from their records, insisting they’ll continue to ring him, regardless of my requests to replace it with my mobile!

I got a call from someone claiming to be with UK Heating & Plumbing asking me to confirm that I agreed to pay £59.99 upfront and then £29.99 each month for a service I’ve actually been getting free from Barclays for the past three years. I told them I wasn’t interested, but then this guy Justin insisted I had to say yes to his “verification manager” so he could supposedly cancel it. What really freaked me out was that they already had my Barclays sort code and account details.

Beware of these despicable con artists! They relentlessly pestered my elderly mother, pressuring her into divulging her bank information while pretending to be from a plumbing and drainage company. Thankfully, she had the presence of mind to call her bank immediately on her mobile. They had the landline left open in the hope that she'd use it instead to connect with her bank! Please, do spread the word to all your older family members to keep them safe from such vile schemes.

I got a call from a woman who sounded filipino, saying she was calling from tv support to sort out my insurance. When I asked which tv she was talking about, all I could hear was clicking noise, like she was messing about with something.
