Even after I blocked the number, it still keeps ringing my phone. They don't bother to leave any voicemail, just hang up after like five mins. When I answer, all I get is some static, no actual person speaking.

Just got a call from this number earlier today. I did a quick search online and it turns out it’s definitely some kind of scam. I’m honestly quite concerned because my Mum might easily get caught up in this.

Clearly a scam involving an individual with an American accent attempting to deceive people into believing they are associated with HMRC.

Got a voicemail telling me to ring HMRC. When I called back, some bloke asked for a reference number I didn’t know. Then he started reading out a statement saying it was being recorded, telling me not to interrupt. He claimed I was under investigation for tax fraud, owed more than £5000, and would be reported to the police and arrested. Total scam, obviously. I blocked the number straight away.

It's strange they bother texting in the first place instead of just calling directly. I reckon it's way more fun dealing with an actual person on the phone so you can mess them about a bit! This felt like some sort of American robot with a odd accent, and it didn't even say goodbye properly, just "take care." Proper weird, if you ask me.

Got a call from "Isa Roberts" using the number 0161 5096082, but it was some sort of automated American voice claiming to be HMRC. The message warned me not to ignore it or I'd be hit with legal trouble. Honestly, that's not how HMRC usually deals with things around here, so I'm convinced it's a scam.

At 12:37 on 07.08.2019, I received a voicemail instructing me to contact a specific number due to an "HMRC investigation." Being cautious, I returned the call and was informed that I am currently under investigation for fraud. I requested additional information, including a reference number, in order to consult with my accountant. However, the caller promptly disconnected the call. It became evident that this was undoubtedly a scam.

Got a call on my mobile earlier today. It was the usual scam rubbish. A recorded message claiming to be from ‘hmrc’, but with that weird middle-of-the-road accent? Really suspicious. They kept going on about legal trouble and threats like always. Does anyone actually get tricked by this nonsense?

I received a phone call from someone with a US accent who claimed that I owed money for my taxes from the previous year. I explained to them that they had the wrong person because I had not been in the country for the past 18 months. The person on the call insisted that some police officers would be coming to arrest me soon, so I assured them that I would keep my door open. Shortly after, the person abruptly ended the call.

This number is definitely a live scam operation, theyre on the phones full time, working hours like its a proper job, targeting older folks and conning them. They make loads of calls every single day. If enough people called back and disturbed them, it might slow them down. So ring them up and help muck up their scam!

About two months ago, I experienced a similar problem. I decided to ring the number provided, but when I confronted the caller about their intentions, they abruptly ended the call. Frustrated by this encounter, I promptly reported the incident to HMRC, who have consistently shown me a great deal of courtesy. Now, in this current situation, I have decided to simply block any further contact from these individuals. Let's hope that takes care of the issue.

We received a recorded message warning us that failure to contact them with a solicitor would result in legal repercussions. They provided a phone number which they repeated multiple times and instructed us to call back. I cannot help but wonder why these fraudulent phone numbers are not removed from the system by the service providers. If people continue to report these bothersome scam calls, shouldn't the authorities investigate and take action against these perpetrators?

I received a call from someone who claimed to be from HMRC. However, I questioned the authenticity of their claim and in response, they provided instructions on how to access a legitimate section of HMRC's website along with contact numbers. Subsequently, they called me from one of those numbers (0345 300 3943). Nonetheless, I was still doubtful and informed them that phone numbers can be manipulated to deceive people. In turn, they advised me to wait for an investigation and give answers in court. Personally, I strongly suspect that this is a scam.

Got a voicemail from some American woman claiming to be "Officer Lisa Roberts" from HMRC. It sounded really intimidating! She kept saying how the matter was "Urgent and time sensitive" and warned me not to ignore the message. Then she threatened legal trouble if I didn’t call back ASAP. Weirdly, she ended with a casual "take care". Proper odd one!

After receiving a phone call claiming to be from HMRC, I decided to return the call. The person on the other end identified themselves as Steven Wright and stated that I owe £4,300. They threatened that I would face severe consequences unless I paid immediately, advising me to hire a solicitor and wait for the police to arrive. Sensing something was amiss, I contacted the real HMRC at 0300 200 3300 and confirmed that it was indeed a scam.

I received a call from an electronic voice pretending to be US Customs, demanding that I return the call or face severe legal consequences. The strange thing is that they didn't mention my name, and any legitimate government agency would typically reach out through postal mail rather than a mobile phone number. I'm cautious about sharing my mobile number with anyone, and the fact that they were so aggressive raises more suspicion. Normally, an official government office wouldn't disclose a reason upfront; they would simply ask for me by name and request a reply. To me, it seems very likely that this is a scam.

I received a phone call approximately 30 minutes ago informing me that I could potentially face legal repercussions regarding my tax return for the period of 2015/16. However, it is important to note that during that time, I was employed full-time at a public limited company and did not handle my own taxes. This unexpected news has made my morning quite stressful.
