Got a call from some bloke saying he was from HMRC, saying I owed them more than £4,000 and threatening legal trouble if I didn’t pay up. Told him to shove it and questioned him about what investigation he said he had going on. After that, he just hung up on me. I then got in touch with HMRC’s fraud department and they passed everything on to the police. Best thing to do is just hang up or mess about with them, maybe pretend you're from the HMRC fraud team yourself!

It’s shocking that stuff like this still happens nowadays - they send threats like “DON’T IGNORE THIS” and then weirdly finish with “take care.” Proper scary and bizarre!

I rang them back and this bloke started saying I’m gonna get arrested and that I need a solicitor. I gave them a fake name and birthday, but they kept insisting I owe tax money. It’s all too late now apparently, and they said I’ll need a solicitor to get me out once they come for me. I asked if I could pay up now or if they could suggest a solicitor, but he just refused and said it’s ‘too late’. Yeah, total scam - they’re just after your info!

So, I decided to call the number back myself. The lady on the line told me I supposedly owe HMRC more than £4,000 and that I really needed to get a lawyer involved. Now I’m worried - did calling that number mean I’m gonna get hit with crazy charges? Honestly, I don’t see what they’d gain from me ringing them back. She just kept saying I should find a solicitor and that the police would soon be banging on my door with a court summons.

Got a robo-call on our office phone, some American lady named Cathy Moore claiming to be from HMRC, saying we or our lawyer had to ring back or face big trouble. Just like the others, I’ve reported this to Action Fraud. It’s ridiculous to think HMRC would send threats like that - it’s honestly quite laughable. Sadly, I worry someone might get scared and believe it. Stay alert, don’t fall for it!

Got an automated call at 8:15 on Monday morning, 1st April 2019 - really not a great time to get a call like that. Seemed fishy to me, so I rang the voicemail and heard a rehearsed message spoken with an American accent saying it was from HMRE. I've actually worked for HMRE before and they definitely wouldn’t ring up that early. Blocked the number straight away.
