Got a call at the shop from someone asking straight away for the MANAGER, even used his full name, saying it was about an URGENT and PRIVATE issue. Didn’t mention the company or what the call was about, which instantly felt like a classic cold call trick. Told them we don’t entertain cold calls wasting our time, and if it was really urgent, surely they’d have the boss’s mobile or could just send an email. They just cut me off right away. The caller had a Manchester accent too.

I've had a rather dodgy experience with some cold callers recently. They rang up, asking to speak to the BOSS-used his full name, mind you-about something they claimed was IMPORTANT, URGENT, and CONFIDENTIAL. However, when I pressed them, they were utterly evasive, refusing to disclose even the name of their company or what they were offering. Talk about a red flag! I made it clear that we do not appreciate these time-wasting cold calls. I pointed out that if it were genuinely crucial, they'd surely have access to the boss's mobile or could drop him an email instead. But before I could say any more, they hung up on me, their Manchester accent fading into the distance. Quite the cheek, if you ask me!
