They wanted to know when they’d be around, I said “when he gets home”. Didn’t seem to sit well with them. Just read that they do this to check if the number’s active, which makes sense cos not long after i got a call from some pricey number. Definitely not answering that one again. I received a call on my mobile today from this number, 0161 505 1509. When I answered, I inquired about who was on the line, but their voice was barely audible. Before I could get any clarity, they abruptly ended the call. Quite frustrating, really!

They seem to work by first seeing if the phone number's still in use and if someone actually answers. Once you do, they just hang up straight away. Then, after that, you get a ring back from a completely different number.

So this number is from Manchester. I live in Greater Manchester myself, but the only person I know with this number is my sister. Since it's not her, I reckon it's one of those annoying telemarketers cold calling.
