I encountered one of those classic scams where the caller claimed to be from Microsoft, insisting that my system had been compromised. He attempted to feed me some supposed 'exclusive' reference number on my computer, but I couldn't help point out that the exact same number popped up on two other machines at my workplace. I strung him along for nearly twenty minutes before he finally threw in the towel. And just to clarify, I'm still holding my breath for a call from the authorities, as I've been told that I’m now liable for this alleged fraudulent behaviour and might be facing jail time! Haha!

Got a call from 01614649732, some Asian lady claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my PC was all messed up. I told her I was actually using my computer right then. Didn’t sound impressed, so I just let her carry on jabbering to waste her time. Eventually, I hung up on her. If all the folks who've checked this number had a word with their MPs about these bogus foreign calls pretending to be from UK landlines, maybe something would actually be done by now. No idea, but if noone makes a fuss, then nothing changes. Problem is, it’s usually just the elderly, the less savvy, or the vulnerable who get stung or end up with dodgy software on their PCs thanks to these scams - so I suppose most people just don’t give a toss or see any point in trying.

What a clever scam! I managed to keep the caller chatting for more than 10 minutes. She kept instructing me to try stuff on my computer, but I kept insisting nothing was working. I’ve got to say, her patience was impressive. After a while, I had to confess I wasn’t connected to the internet and was stuck with Windows 95! She quickly hung up, clearly annoyed. I doubt she’ll be ringing me again. Luckily, I had the time to waste, and honestly, I really do use Windows 10.

I've had loads of calls supposedly from Microsoft before, all from different numbers. Normally when I say I don’t own a Microsoft PC, they just hang up. Today, the lady claimed there was a Microsoft-registered computer under my name (probably an old one) and said it would be deregistered unless I did something she wanted. I didn’t stick around to find out what because it felt dodgy. It’s obvious these scammers ring from all over, using lots of different numbers. It’s pretty annoying and could be risky if someone actually fell for it.

Got a call from someone pretending to be Microsoft, claiming my PC was hacked. The lady was quite rude and her English wasn’t great. She kept going on and tried everything to stop me from ending the call. Definitely put them on block!

I got called by this local number and it threw me off. Turns out, it was a total scam. The woman on the line barely spoke English. Just ignore it!
