Every year about this time period I get loads of calls for a lady named Lucy McFarlane. I've never had this number linked to her or anyone like that, and I’ve owned this number for more than 25 years. Somehow my number is on some list they’re using illegally, probably breaching GDPR, and all the calls come flooding in together.

Find the ‘report a phishing attempt’ section and make sure you read all the info carefully. Then fill in the details about the scam, including any links or website addresses. You don’t need to register, and they won’t ask for personal info unless you’ve actually lost money. Reporting every single call and message is the only way the police can keep track of these attempts to cheat us.

A bloke with an Indian accent rang me, said he was from Simple Lifestyle UK. Mentioned he wanted to ask three quick questions. Instead, he fired off about ten questions, all sorts about my life insurance, internet provider, mortgage company and that. I told him I wasn’t going to share that info. He just hung up after that.

Total scam, there was this weird crackling and echo during the call. The person said they were from Consumer Life, only wanted to ask 3 quick questions about life insurance, if I own my home, what kind of TV I have, broadband, and phone bills. Also asked if Virgin Media could reach out to offer better deals. I just made up all my answers. After that, I got bombarded with calls from loads of different marketing firms trying to sell me stuff. Seems like they just pass on your info to tons of companies for spam calls. Best to steer clear if you don’t want endless marketing calls!
