Some bloke rang me claiming to be from an 'energy tariff agency', saying he wanted to check if I was on the best deal for my energy. When I asked where they got my number from, he just wouldn’t say. Plus, he ignored the fact that everyone is currently paying the highest permitted under the energy price cap, so there’s no way he could offer me a better tariff unless ‘better’ meant costing me more in a fixed contract. I had a quick look online for the energy tariff agency but found nothing, so I reckon it’s a total scam.

The individual on the other end was extremely courteous! However, don’t let that kind demeanor deceive you; she turned out to be just another run-of-the-mill scam artist! She proposed I switch to her utility firm, promising much cheaper rates for both gas and electricity.
