Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, said he was ringing from some benefits agency. Started waffling about GDPR and when I asked him some proper questions, he just got nasty. I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was working for some UK benefits office. It was really tough to catch what he was saying. I ended up keeping him on the line for about ten minutes since I’ve had quite a few calls like this before.

I keep getting calls from these folks multiple times daily. One time I answered and some Indian guy asked if he was talking to me, but he got my name wrong and called me 'Mrs', which is actually my mum, not me. Right away I figured it was a scam and ended the call. The phone keeps buzzing every day, loads of times, but I just don’t pick up anymore. Honestly, it’s starting to really annoy me.

One way to put a halt to this is to play along with the scam until you reach the person in the UK who's purchasing these leads from the Indian scammers. Then, gather their information and file proper complaints against them. If those people stop buying the leads, the whole cycle might finally end instead of carrying on forever.

Some bloke rang saying he was from the Benefits Dept about life insurance. I told him that by GDPR laws he needs my consent to call me, which he clearly didn’t have, so he was breaching the rules. He just shrugged it off, saying rules are made to be broken. I then told him the call was being recorded and his own words just caught him out for breaking GDPR. At that, he quickly ended the call!

Someone rang saying they were from UK Benefits. I cut them off straight away, saying I wasn’t after any benefits. They insisted I should listen properly, but I told them no thanks. Then they rudely told me to shut up and hung up on me. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now!

I’m with the benefits office and this definitely isn’t our line - we always use an 0800 number. The bloke on the phone was really unpleasant. When I told him to take my number off his list, he flat out refused and said he’d keep ringing me until I gave him what he wanted. Proper annoying!

It was quiet for a bit, then suddenly I heard a recorded goodbye and the call ended. I’m on the TPS list too.

I got a call from someone claiming they had my insurance paperwork. They began naming the companies my policies were supposedly with. I quickly told them I’m not daft enough to be tricked by a scam like that. He just ended the call after that.

Got a call from some guy claiming he was with the UK Benefits Department. Thing is, I’m actually employed by a government office and there's no such department that I know of. This isn’t the first time though - probably had about 10 or 20 calls from this same number with exactly the same story. If anyone knows anything about these people, please share what you’ve got here.

Got a call from someone with a foreign accent saying I wasn’t getting the full payout on my life insurance. He asked me which insurer I’m with. I said if he’s calling about it, he should already know! He kept saying he wanted to assist and started asking about other policies I have. I just ended the call there and then.

After seeing all these comments, I've gone ahead and blocked another number. Got a cold call about life insurance, even though Martin Lewis said they banned those since 9th January. But of course, these lot don't care and just keep calling from different phones.

Looks like these calls are just trying to drum up leads for life insurance firms. What I’d say is, invent a fake identity (jot it down so you don’t forget) and play along for a bit. They’ll probably say they’re putting you through to a higher-up who’ll quiz you to see if you qualify or whatever. After a few times being passed around, you might finally get through to a legit UK life insurer. That’s when you can make a complaint; before that, the call centre from India will just give you the cold shoulder.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was with "UK Benefits," claiming they needed to "check my policy" because apparently, I was getting more benefits than I should be. Sounds like a total scam to me - they'll probably try to get you to hand over iTunes Giftcards to "sort out your policy" or something daft like that. Best to just ignore calls from this number, it's dodgy.

I asked no less than four times but they just stuck to their script and wouldn’t tell me. Tried to get a supervisor on the phone twice, but each time they just hung up on me. Proper frustrating!
