I answered the call, but there was silence on the other end before the line went dead.

I've had multiple calls from this number, including one this morning, but they went silent as soon as I answered. I suspect it’s the same caller purporting to be from BT, supposedly concerning my internet service. At first, I indulged their chatter and probed a bit into their legitimacy, but I was quick to refuse any connection to the internet they were offering. Now, I've simply opted to hang up on them whenever they ring.
