They claimed they had been attempting to reach me and threatened to terminate my service within a day or two due to some supposed illegal activity. When I finally managed to speak with a human, they greeted me with "Thank you for calling BT"-which is odd, as I'm actually with TalkTalk! Naturally, when I pressed for details on when they'd made these alleged attempts to contact me, they were utterly flummoxed. This is nothing short of a scam-definitely a case of spoofed caller ID!

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be my phone company, warning me they were about to disconnect my service in a day or two due to some sort of illegal stuff. When I managed to speak to an actual person, they greeted me with "Thank you for calling BT" (I'm actually with Virgin Media!). I received a recorded message from a female voice purporting to be from Western Union, stating that there were two transactions made on my card. The options were rather alarming: press 1 to authorise the payment or press 2 to chat with someone who sounded a bit dodgy and potentially give away my bank info. No way am I falling for that! I swiftly hung up and made sure to block the number straight away.
