Got a call from 01614275192 claiming to be Virgin Media and talking about my broadband speed, but it seemed a bit dodgy to me.

I got a call from a woman claiming she was with Virgin Media, saying there were problems with my internet and asking how many gadgets I use. I asked if she wanted to check my computer remotely and show me the issue. She then called me an idiot and just hung up. Funny enough, the same number called me again yesterday, but this time it was a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from BT Openreach, asking the same questions - check my note from yesterday for more. Definitely a scam since I’m not even a customer of either company!

I got a call from a woman claiming to be with Virgin Media saying there were problems with my internet. She asked me how many gadgets I had connected. I told her to check my computer remotely if she wanted to see what was wrong. She then called me thick and just hung up. Funny enough, yesterday a lady with an Indian accent rang me from the same number, this time pretending to be from BT Openreach and asking me the exact same questions - check my post from yesterday for more. Clearly a con job - and I’m not even a customer of either company!

Got a call from a guy speaking with an Indian accent claiming there was a problem with my internet. I asked him to name my internet provider, but he couldn’t answer. Then he quickly switched topics and asked how many gadgets I had hooked up to my wi-fi. I didn’t share anything since he couldn’t prove who he was. Told him right away he was trying to scam me and just hung up.

got a call from a woman who claimed she worked for openreach bt, saying there was a security problem. she used covid as an excuse why a tech couldnt come to the house and asked about the number of gadgets i had. i told her i’m not that good with tech stuff and that i’d heard about loads of scams like this. i also mentioned we arent even bt customers, so why call me? she said my missus sounded like the one who knew about these things but she wasnt in right now. asked when she might be back and said she’d phone again then, but i’m not holding my breath.

Similar to what others have said, I got a call from someone saying they were with BT Openreach and said there was some dodgy activity on my internet. They asked loads of personal details which I refused to share. I’m pretty sure they have nothing to do with BT anyway, especially as I’m not even with them for my broadband.

The person claimed to be from Virgin Media, saying there was an issue with my router. I replied that they should send an engineer out. Then they said they couldn’t do that, and would sort it remotely over the phone. I instantly thought, nah this is dodgy, probably a scam, so I just said goodbye and ended the call.

On 21st April 2021 around 9:20 in the morning, i got a call from a bloke with an indian accent who said his name was "mark villiams" and claimed he was ringing from "wirgin media." He told me there were issues with my internet and asked how many gadgets were linked. Didn't fancy wasting my time with these scammy types so i just blocked him straight away.

Received a call purporting to be from Virgin Media, claiming there were security concerns regarding our broadband connection. They probed about the devices linked to the internet but were rather evasive when it came to confirming their legitimacy. Quite suspicious, I must say!

I received two calls claiming to be from Virgin Media, insisting they needed to access my computer because my Wi-Fi had been compromised. They seemed quite taken aback when I mentioned I’d check directly with Virgin before proceeding. Quite dodgy if you ask me!

A gentleman claiming to represent Virgin Media got in touch with me, and I must say, he was rather pushy. When I expressed my lack of interest, his response was quite brusque. There was no clear proof that he was genuinely affiliated with Virgin Media, which left me feeling rather dubious about the whole situation.
