I got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, asking for someone by name, saying it was about a 'tax rebate.' When I asked a few questions, he just hung up. Definitely a scam, so don’t hand over any personal info!

This morning around 11:57 I wasn’t near my phone. When I finally checked it, there was a call from 0161 413 5037, a number I didn’t know. I had a feeling it was one of those dodgy calls, so I looked them up straight away. Yep, just as I suspected, probably a scam. I’m definitely going to block it now. Barbara

I got a call supposedly from HMRC about sorting out my married tax allowance. They asked questions they should know the answers to, but couldn't even say if I was working, retired or unemployed - info HMRC definitely have. The call came from a Manchester number, but HMRC's Manchester office isn’t opening until 2022. Any genuine HMRC call would probely be from an 0300 number, and if regional numbers were used, surely it'd be from the local office just a few miles away. Plus, they kept messing up my surname which doesn’t seem like something HMRC would do. Definitely sounded dodgy to me.

Had a call from a woman claiming to be with HMRC about my wife’s married tax allowance. I told her if she really worked for them she’d already have all the info she needed from their system. I called her out as a scammer and she kept going, saying she just helped someone get a £1200 refund. Yeah, right, like that’s going to happen. I don’t get how folks still fall for this rubbish. Honestly, when will these scammers just stop? It’s worrying how many people might actually believe it.

Got a call from some guy named Brian claiming to be from HMRC about our tax allowance for married couples. Bit funny really, as I’m forever single and not married once. Seems like just another scam trying to trick me. I’ve already blocked the number, but I’m sure they’ll ring up again soon with a different number and some new dodgy story. These scammers never give up, do they?

Got a call supposedly from HMRC about marriage allowance, and they even knew my and my husband’s names. They asked for bank details, saying they needed to send a refund. Total scam, obviously. I told the woman (she said her name was April and had an Indian accent) that I was onto her lies, and she just cut me off! Never share your information - HMRC doesn’t ring about stuff like this. I’ve blocked the number straight away.

Today I received a call from this number, but I ignored it. Pretty clear it was some kind of scam. What threw me off was that the phone that actually rang is an ancient one I haven't touched for nearly 8 years. No idea how it even picked up a call! I just keep that old phone as a small screen beside my laptop, and I honestly thought it didn’t have a SIM card anymore. Quite bizarre if you ask me.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC wanting to assist with marriage allowance claims. I told her I’d already given that info a couple times, then she just said “no worries mam” and ended the call. Total scammers! Watch out and never give out your details.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with HMRC, asking about my and my husband's jobs to see if we qualified for married couples allowance. I told them that HMRC would already have that info if it was legit and asked them to send me an email so I could check if they were genuine. They were quite insistent and didn't back down easily. I hung up because I wasn’t sure if they were trying to get more details to scam me.

A bloke with an accent that sounded Asian kept saying he was from some firm doing work for HMRC, trying to sort out my marriage allowance. I messsed about a bit, giving him daft answers just for a laugh. Then he started asking about my wife's wages. Just as that happened, the Tour de France came on telly, so I told him to jog on and hung up.

Regarding that marriage tax issue, it claimed I was eligible for it, yet they clearly recognised my name. If it were authentic, they would have had access to much more information. I deliberately provided them with incorrect details such as my date of birth, partner's information, marriage date, and age, among other things. It's all rather baffling, really!
