11 yearsI received a call on October 10th from individuals claiming to be associated with Microsoft. They insisted my computer was infected, which was leading to poor performance and various glitches. I ended up counting security alerts-there were tons! In a moment of panic, I forked out £175 for a three-year protection plan, but now I’m convinced it was all a scam. When I tried getting in touch with them again, nothing they said made any sense. Additionally, I’ve discovered that Microsoft doesn’t actually make these types of calls.Microsoft11 yearsOn the 26th of April, 2011, I received a call from this gentleman who assured me that his team could rectify the issues with our computer, which had fallen victim to a virus. He claimed that not only could they resolve the problem, but they also offered a lifetime warranty on the repairs for all our devices. I was presented with an invoice that appeared on our desktop, linked to a company based in the USA called "SWREG". The technician proceeded to service the computer accordingly.USASWREG12 years*deep breath* Honestly, these situations are quite unsettling. Anyway, our landline just lit up with the number 01614082845, which apparently hails from San Antonio, Texas! The caller had an odd and rather pronounced accent, rambling on about some sort of issue related to our computer having a... well, you know, a security problem or something of that sort. Quite peculiar!San AntonioTexas12 yearsOn 24th March, I received a rather dubious call from this number, claiming that our computer had been plagued with malware infections that were hampering its performance and causing all sorts of issues. They insisted that, upon counting the alarming number of red security alerts, they could provide the appropriate solution package. We noted a staggering 1,280 warnings, and it seemed they were taken aback by that revelation. One can't help but wonder what astronomical figure they had in mind for their 'services', especially when they brandished the title of "Microsoft certified engineers". After a lengthy 55 minutes of their so-called expertise on the phone, we were left with the promise of a follow-up appointment, saying they'd get back in touch with us. Quite the affair, I must say!MicrosoftSubmit Your Own Report (0161 408 2845)
