I seem to be getting scammed by someone going by the name of Mark Chapman. They reached out, claiming they attempted to transfer a loan sum of £15,000 into my Lloyds TSB account, but due to some unspecified technical glitch, it apparently failed multiple times. They've insisted that the funds have been obstructed by their system, and now they're asking me to send them £500 as a sort of prerequisite to releasing the loan. They assure me that once I provide them with a reference number, the money will be in my account within twenty minutes. They’ve asked me to respond to their email with certain details, and included a contact number for customer service should I have any questions. It's perplexing, to say the least, and has left me quite uneasy. Best, [Your Name]

About two months ago, I received a rather dubious phone call shortly after I applied for some online loans. The callers already seemed to have my personal information, including my address. I had an initial conversation with one Lloyd Jeffery, who offered me a £2,000 loan. All they required was an upfront payment of £115 for the first month, and they assured me that the funds would be in my account within 20 minutes. They insisted on payment via Western Union or Ukash, and once I'd paid, they confirmed everything was in order and promised that the money would be deposited in my bank within half an hour. An hour passed, but I received nothing. When I called back, I was informed that there was a government tax of £317 that needed settling before I could access the loan. Strangely, Mr. Jeffery was willing to contribute £67, leaving me to cough up £250. At this juncture, I started to feel something was amiss, so I contacted the police to report my suspicions. The police managed to get in touch with the company, discovering they appeared to be registered with Companies House - although my own search yielded no results. They got back to me, explaining they found no clear signs of fraud at that moment and that the tax request was supposedly due to my poor credit rating. In a moment of foolishness, swayed by the officers' reassurance about the legitimacy of the business, I went ahead and paid the £250 tax. Following that, they asked for my bank swift code to facilitate an 'international transfer,' once again asserting that the loan would arrive shortly thereafter. Yet again, no funds materialised, prompting me to follow up once more. I was informed that my account couldn’t accept international payments, and multiple attempts to transfer the funds had allegedly locked it in what they described as 'the portal.' Then, I was shuffled through to a senior account manager by the name of James Walker, who claimed I needed to pay an additional £200 for a solicitor to deliver the loan in cash to my home that very evening. Lacking the full amount, I paid £100, intending to settle the remaining balance with the cash from the loan. To no one's surprise, the solicitor never turned up, leaving me nearly £480 lighter in the pocket. I urge you all to heed my cautionary tale and not to fall victim to this scam as I did. I’m now confronting the very real possibility of eviction if I can’t sort my rent, and I'm at risk of losing my car due to garage bills. Trust your gut, disregard the sweet talk, and steer clear of this pitfall. These individuals prey on those who are already struggling, stripping away the last remnants of what you have. The names I was given for the money transfers were Mark Chapman and Denise Cooper.
