Received a call claiming to be from Coin Market regarding cryptocurrency. To be honest, I’m a bit sceptical about the legitimacy of it all. They expressed an interest in getting back in touch, but the irony is, I don’t have any cash to invest in the first place! Just didn’t sit right with me, to be frank.

Got a call about cryptocurrency - like loads of others, they already knew my first name. Now when I pick up, I usually say “hello, is this Domino’s Pizza?” or joke that the number’s only for Pizza Hut drivers ;)

A woman claiming to be from CoinMarketCap rang me, her accent distinctly Indian. She addressed me by name, which was a bit unnerving. When I expressed my disinterest in whatever she was offering, she insisted that she wasn’t trying to sell anything. Quite oddly, she then wished me a pleasant day before abruptly ending the call. How peculiar! 🙄

On Monday, the 31st of January 2022, at approximately 16:30, I received a rather peculiar call from a chap who claimed his name was Peter. He had a distinctly Indian accent and, curiously, couldn't explain how he had come across my private number. When I probed him about the company he represented, he mentioned Binance. Upon a quick check, I found that while Binance does indeed have an office in London, there's no trace of them being based in Manchester, where I was told he was calling from. He seemed to get rather flustered with my barrage of questions, as he abruptly ended the call. Quite strange, don’t you think?

Some bloke named Peter, who spoke with an Indian accent, gave me a ring on Monday 31st Jan around 4:30 pm, saying he was from Binance. I kept grilling him about how he managed to get my personal number, and eventually he just dropped it. Felt pretty dodgy to me. I looked up Binance’s offices here in the UK and there’s no office in Manchester at all.
