10 yearsMy mother-in-law got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC saying she owed £900 in back taxes from 1995 to 2005. They told her she shouldn’t interrupt and said a warrant was out for her arrest if she didn’t pay immediately. She was really upset and genuinely thought it was HMRC. We told her the claim sounded off since the amount was from way too long ago for HMRC to be chasing. When we tried calling the number they gave back, it just cut out.
