There’s a mix of randomness and patterns here. 2 You get these blasted call centres out of nowhere, using what’s meant to be our protected personal info. 3 The usual targets seem to be folks over 50, with pension and life insurance deals, plus anyone with financial troubles. Our debts get sold off to dodgy firms who then tap into phones linked to broadband, pushing all sorts of spyware and malware.

I've been getting calls from this prepaid funeral plan outfit called PMF. I've told them multiple times, both through their online form and phone messages, that I'm not interested, now or ever. But they just keep ringing and leaving voicemails - it's really annoying! On top of that, I've started getting emails from a US-based company trying to sell me their funeral plans. Seems pretty clear these two firms are linked and both from America. I remember reading a while back how American companies were sneaking into the UK market, snapping up old funeral homes and setting up shop. This all feels like more proof of that. We decided to get the BT 8500 with Call Guardian and honestly, no regrets at all. If a number that’s not on our approved list calls, it asks them to say their name first. Then we can choose to either take the call or block it straight away. I just wish the government would step up and sort out all these annoying calls for good, but this phone has really helped me keep my cool. MartyM
