They kept ringing me, and when I finally picked up, the person claimed I’d been wrongly sold PPI and offered to sort out a refund. Then they started reading out my address, asking me to verify it. I muted the call to chat with my dad about it, and suddenly the caller got quite rude, demanding to know why I’d gone silent. I told them to stop phoning me since I never had PPI. The caller shouted back asking how I could be sure. I just ended the call.

Honestly, the safest bet is to just ignore calls from numbers you don't know. If it’s really urgent, they’ll usually leave a voicemail. And if they try to persuade you over the phone, ask them to send something in writing - like a proper letter through Royal Mail, not just an email. Makes them think twice!

I couldn't really make out what the Indian bloke was saying, it was way too noisy. They said they were going to send me something through the post. I just ended the call. I was only picking up because I was expecting a call from Manchester, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

They called me about 4 times over a couple of days. A woman on the phone claimed I owed £2200 from a credit card loan from the past two years. I told her I’ve never had a credit card but wouldn’t mind if she wanted to send me the cash. She said they’d post a letter for me to sign and then started asking for my info. That’s when I just laughed and hung up.

It’s one of those claims firms, ringing up about ‘Your recent accident’. I had a bit of fun and asked them which accident they meant? They got all eager like they’d caught somethin’. When I told them to provide the details since they were the ones calling, they just dropped the call (real classy). I’ve blocked the number now (mobile anyway, can’t say about landlines).
