I've recently reached out to Orange via their Facebook account to enquire if they're aware of this firm making calls to their PAYG customers. I urged them to keep me in the loop, as I'd like to switch providers pronto if they confirm it's true. I've also taken the liberty of installing a call-blocking app, and guess what? I've got this number sitting on my outdated Orange pay-as-you-go plan, which I now just keep as a backup since I'm with another provider. I received a missed call on the 13th of September 2013, and after a telemarketer rang in, they left me a voicemail which I ended up having to pay to access. Fast forward to the 21st of September 2013, and I got another call. Both of my numbers are registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so I shouldn't be receiving any marketing calls or texts, but Orange continues to bombard me with them despite me asking them to stop in person. About two hours back, I received a call claiming to be from Orange, touting a new SIM deal at a mere £11 a month via direct debit. It was a bit of a long day at work, and everything seemed fine at first, so I shared my banking info. However, right after that, they mentioned transferring me to another department and then, poof, the line went silent. That’s when my instincts kicked in. I rushed to the bank, and they advised me to keep an eye on my account for any unusual activity. I tried redialling their number and found out they call themselves SLM Connect.
