I insisted on speaking with a supervisor and, to my surprise, was transferred instantly, as though the original caller merely handed the phone to someone sitting right beside him. This struck me as rather unusual, particularly for a large call centre operation. Upon doing a bit of digging into this phone number, it appears that those who reach out from it flip between claiming affiliation with TalkTalk and Microsoft. The individuals introduced themselves as being located in London, albeit their accents suggested otherwise (sounded quite strongly Asian), while the actual number connects to a staff member at Manchester University. All of this reeks of a meticulously orchestrated scam, if you ask me.
