This guy called saying I had some life insurance policy with a company and asked if I wanted to upgrade it. The company name sounded all messed up and weird, plus he used my first name, which I hardly ever share and really don't like when strangers get all cheery like that!

Got a call from this number claiming they were from Aviva insurance. I was quite iffy about it since they seemed to guess out of nowhere about life insurance. I told them my husband handles all our insurance stuff and then they just cut the call without even a proper goodbye. Feels like a right scam to me!

The weird part is, it’s a new company on the line every time - accident claims, PPI, life cover, even energy deals. Proper dodgy. I’ve blocked the numbers, but somehow they still get through??!

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from someone saying they were from Aviva, asking about my life insurance and any dependent kids I have. I was due to have a baby soon, so they said they’d call back in two weeks. When they did, they claimed to be from a different company. That’s when I got really suspicious because they kept asking personal stuff they should already know. I hung up when they asked how much I was paying - if they were legit, they’d know that. I looked up the number here and now I feel daft for not seeing through it earlier. The number is definitely blocked now.

Got a call from an unknown number completely unexpectedly. I just let it ring, planning to look the number up later (I assumed if it was a job I applied to, they’d drop a voicemail or send an email first - plus, my employers always give me a heads-up before ringing). I stopped filling out an online mystery shopper form when it asked for loads of personal info. After that, I've been getting like 15 calls a day from different numbers to talk about life insurance, claiming they’re from my provider. I don’t pick up for numbers I don’t know, assuming they’ll leave a voicemail if it’s important. I block all unknown callers. I never agreed to have my info shared with anyone else.

They've rang me loads of times and this time I actually answered. The bloke was so rude and pushy, asking about life insurance. He claimed I’d requested a call for a quote, but when I told him I hadn’t, he said I must’ve forgotten! I’m pretty sure the law says if you ask them to take you off their list, they have to do it. He didn’t like me insisting and kept trying to change the topic, saying it was legal to call me. Pro tip: Make sure they delete your details, because if they don’t, they can get fined big time and the calls are recorded. Argh, proper annoying guy!!!!

I received a rather peculiar call today from a lady who had my complete name. She claimed to be representing an insurance firm and insisted she was reaching out due to a callback request I supposedly submitted some time back. The thing is, I never asked for such a follow-up, so I advised her to quit the phishing tactics. If this number pipes up again, I might just add it to my block list.

Then they start asking loads of security questions. After that, they throw in some decent advice that makes you feel safe, but its a trick. Better just not to chat with them!

I began to second-guess myself, especially after sharing some personal information (silly me for trusting them). I requested they send me quotes via email, but shockingly, they claimed that was impossible. It's all rather suspect, so I've made the decision to block their number. I’d advise others to consider doing the same.
