I got a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon Prime, saying they'd be charging me £79.99 to keep my subscription going. I rang the number back and spoke to a bloke who said he wasn’t connected to Amazon Prime at all. I told him his number was being used by scammers but he just shrugged it off and said fine. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

When I do answer, there's a noticeable pause before I hear someone with a strong Indian accent, claiming to be called Paul from BY Openreach, which is puzzling since we don’t use their services. It certainly felt like it was a call centre, but to me, it sounded more like a pre-recorded message, given the excessive background racket. She went on about wanting to discuss my broadband services, but since everything's running smoothly, I simply told her so and ended the call. I'm convinced it's a scam.

I let the chap ramble on for a while, and then he asked whether I could confirm I was the account holder. I replied that it all hinges on the name he has on file, and without missing a beat, he hung up! I'm more than ready to keep this little charade going for as long as they like!

Like some folks mentioned before, the callers with Asian accents say they're from BT, which seems pretty dodgy to me. Best to just end the call immediately.
