I received a phone call from a chap claiming to be contacting me about my computer, asserting that it had been compromised. He didn’t even get my name right and went on to request that I install a particular app so he could gain remote control of my machine. What a cheek!

Got a call from a man asking for Mrs so-and-so. I told him she passed away quite some time ago. Then he acted surprised, like, "Oh, not Mrs? Did you use her computer?" I said no, it’s been hacked and someone’s been messing with it. Next, he asked if he could speak to Mr? I reminded him she’s dead! Then he said he’d block the computer or something. I just told him off, told him to buzz off, and ended the call. Blocked the number straight away. Typical scam, really.

Some bloke with a male voice called asking for Mrs something or other. I said she’s been dead for years. He sounded confused, asked if I was Mrs, I said no. Then he went on about her computer being hacked and used without permission. Next, he wanted to speak to Mr, and I just repeated she’s gone! He kept saying he’d block the computer or something, I told him to jog on, ended the call and blocked the number. Classic scam, no doubt.
