Got a call from someone with an Indian accent who knew my name. I told them I wasn’t interested and just ended the call. Lately, I’ve been getting loads of annoying calls from numbers starting with 0161 and different variations. Some claim they're from BT and say my internet will be disconnected. I just tell them to do one and hang up. Weirdly, I’ve been in touch with my internet provider about switching to fibre broadband, and since then the calls have ramped up. Proper annoying.

Pretty much like what others are saying. Sounds like it’s the exact same group calling about. For me, they’re always chasing a Mr Fletcher, even though my number’s been in my own name for more than two years now. When I mentioned that, they asked me for my name and other info to supposedly take the number off their list. As if! I told them to just take me off and ended the call. Got a call from someone saying “TPS” and they called me by the name of the last people who lived here, but they died like 15 years ago. The woman on the line was Indian and told me our number was on the TPS register, which it definitely isn’t. When I started asking her stuff, she just cut me off. Got two calls from this number today. First time I answered, it sounded like those call centre calls, but no one talked so I just ended it. Someone called pretending to be from the phone company, saying they wanted to stop scam calls coming from overseas. A woman answered and was asked for her address, card expiry date, sort code, and then her bank account number. She first spoke to a woman caller, who said she’d transfer her to the manager. After giving some details, the woman refused to share her account number, and the man on the line got quite pushy, telling her to call 0203 6300 3231 to verify he was genuine. That number didn’t work. Afterwards, the woman reported the whole thing to the police.
