Honestly, I’m not quite sure what the deal is with these calls. The person on the line was really aggressive for no obvious reason. If you’ve signed up with the TPS, make sure to report scam calls to the ICO, and any silent or dropped calls to OFCOM. These spammy callers couldn’t care less about messages here, but they really get bothered when you report them to Ofcom or the ICO - and it only takes a couple of minutes tops.

I’ve got a business number listed with Thomson Local and 118, and since then, I’ve been getting loads of calls every day about new tenancies, energy-saving stuff, or new meters. I work from home and the only thing I changed was putting my 0844 number online. I’m sure it’s from Thomson/118 because when I stopped listing with other sites like Yell, the calls kicked off right after I confirmed my “free” listing with them. Had about 12 calls yesterday and 3 already today! (PS, I’m with BG anyway, so not sure what they want!)

Watch out, it’s a proper con. They pretend to be from British Gas but they’re not legit, asking for your supply number and when your contract finishes. Yeah, right. Watch out, these people claim to be from British Gas, but they ask for your supply number and when your contract finishes, stuff they should already know if they're legit. I reckon they just want to save that info so they can ring back when your contract ends and try to persuade you to switch.

Got a call from 118 Information earlier today wanting to update my info. Since then, I've been getting calls nonstop, like every few minutes, mainly from folks claiming to be from Norweb or similar. Some of them have been really aggressive and nasty, especially a bloke called James from 01612732016, and then later someone from a withheld number who threatened to cut off my power if I didn’t answer. Proper rude. I rang the number shared here (cheers for that) and told them to take my details off their list right away.

I ignored them when they started going on about me supposedly overpaying for my electricity and kept asking for my personal info. I tried saying I was tied up right then and asked if I could get a number to call back later, but they just refused to provide one.

Beware of the electricity metre registration con! They ring up new companies saying your metre isn’t registered, hoping to get your info and sign you up for a contract. The moment I mentioned I’ve worked as a business energy adviser for over a decade, he quickly ended the call. I’m well aware of their tactic!

Total waste of time with these spam calls. Usually, they just cut off straight away when you pick up. Occasionally, you catch one of them mumbling a word, maybe something like "Adrian," before they drop the line. The silver lining is they call from a proper landline, so blocking is pretty straightforward. I only started getting these after I registered with yell and 118, and I’m really kicking myself for that now.

Got a call from 01612732016 claiming my business electricity was on some tariff that was 50% more expensive, promising to sort me out with a cheaper deal. I told them I'd check with my landlord first. They said they’d ring me back in an hour, saying the deal was only valid today. After chatting with my landlord, it’s clear this is a scam. The place I’m renting only got this phone number about 8 days ago. Is BT handing out company info with new numbers, or is 118 118 behind it? They even knew my name, which felt a bit creepy.
