Got a call from a Manchester area code, but the voice on the other end definitely wasn’t English. They claimed to be calling about the Postcode Lottery. I told them straight up I don’t take part in that. Then they quickly switched gears and said I’d ‘won’ some sort of discount card. I made it clear I wasn’t interested and then the caller started sounding desperate, almost begging me. I told them it was a cold call, but they seemed a bit lost on what that meant. After I repeated myself, they finally gave up and hung up on me.

Got a call from someone who sounded Asian but had a very English name, which made me a bit suspicious straight away. He said he was calling from the postcode lottery and somehow already had my name, address and postcode. Claimed I'd won some vouchers and a holiday anywhere in Europe. Then he started asking for the numbers on my card to “confirm” my details. I told him off, said he should feel bad and find a real job. Hung up and blocked the number.

Got a call from someone saying I'd won a special prize from the Post Code Lottery. They wanted my email and bank info so they could send a penny to check my account. I told them no way, if it’s the real lottery they’d already have my details. Then the person says they can’t keep any info because of GDPR rules. I pointed out that if they’re calling me, they obviously have my number, and since I pay by Direct Debit, they must have my bank info too. In the end, I just said I’d pass on the prize. Total SCAM!

Got a call from a woman who claimed to be from the postcode lottery, telling me I’d won some discount card. I wasn’t interested and explained it’s not my postcode because I recently moved. She kept pushing, then suddenly started hurling racist insults at me, telling me to go back to Africa - which is dumb since I’m not even from there. After that, she said something about my house having a red wall and grey roof, then threatened to ‘chop my head in three’. She said she was from Leeds or London, definitely not Manchester. Honestly, some people can be really aggressive and hateful.

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, calling himself ‘Kevin’ and claiming I’d won something from a “postcode Lottery.” He said because I’m in my 50s, I’d also bagged a two-week holiday. To prove he was genuine, he said he’d send £1 into my bank account - all he needed was my 8 digit account number. I got suspicious when he mentioned his name was Kevin, and my gut told me something was off. I tried to find out where he was calling from, but he refused to say. In the end, I told him exactly what I thought of these scammers and ended the call.
