This posh sounding lady rang my landline and asked for me by name. She started to pitch some cheap carpet cleaning deal. I didn’t cut her off or nothing, just calmly asked where they’d got my number from, seeing as I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list. She just snapped and hung up on me right away.

So someone rang me looking for Mrs Newman (which is my previous married name). I told them there isn’t any Mrs Newman at this number and asked who it was. She said her name was Debbie, then quickly realised she’d called the wrong place! After that, I looked up the number online and stumbled across this site.

18/11/4 A polite woman called saying my husband started some kind of call blocking plan a while back and said we owed money for it now. Total scam! My husband never signed up for anything like that. Don’t fall for it - just end the call straight away! No way!

There was a polite woman, maybe Amelia was her name, who said they were doing some sort of security update. Just as she was about to ask for my info, I cut her off and said I didn’t need any security services. She then claimed I’d already paid £98.99 before, but I was quick to say I hadn’t. I ended the call right after.

Some young bloke with a proper posh way of talking rang me claiming he was with call protection or something, said he worked with my phone company but couldn’t even name them right. Just as I was about to call him out on the scam, he goes and cuts the call. Honestly, will these lot ever give it a rest?

Got a call from a woman claiming she was from some cleaning company, asking for my mum who passed away about three weeks back. The phone line is still in my name since we moved in to take care of her. I explained that these unexpected calls about someone who's died are really upsetting for us and told her to delete all her info from their system or we'd have no choice but to report them for harassment!

I asked if I was paying by direct debit or if it was an annual fee, but the person on the line said he wasn’t the accountant and didn’t have a clue. If this was genuine, I’d have thought that info would show up on their screen. When I mentioned that most of my annoying calls come from people like him, he went all defensive and said I was being rude. Well, sometimes the truth stings! They promised to send me new paperwork, but I’m not holding my breath.

My elderly mum got a call from these scammers trying to get her bank info to charge £98 for some call blocking service for two years. Luckily she was sharp enough and said her daughter handles all her money matters. The woman on the line was proper rude, saying my mum should’ve mentioned that straight away before hanging up on her. Definitely steer clear of this number!

My elderly mum got a call from this firm, and a really polite woman was on the other end, telling her she was due some money from the telephone preference service. She ended up giving out her card details because they knew her name, said a password she actually uses for some accounts (how they found that out is beyond me) and even mentioned the first 4 digits of her long card number (which are pretty standard for Nationwide, her bank). After she hung up, she started to suspect it was dodgy and rang me up. Since I can access her online banking, I quickly moved all her money into her savings. She then got in touch with Nationwide, and they said loads of people have been targeted by this scam. It was really frightening for her, but thankfully nothing was lost.

Today around 11:10, I got a call from someone claiming to be from Call Secure. The last time I got a call like this was back in May last year. The caller kept telling me that I supposedly signed up for their call blocking service and had already paid with my debit card for 3 years starting in 2015. They said I still owed money, like last time they mentioned I’d paid £49.99 but owed £98.99. They even threatened to take legal action against me. The bloke said he was about to send me some documents about my account but first needed to check my card details, which I refused and ended the call. He rang me back later but I just didn’t pick up.

On the 18th of Jan, I got a call around 10:20am from a polite sounding bloke who actually knew my name. Then he mumbled my address and some other stuff I couldn't catch. When I asked what the call was about, he just went quiet and hung up on me.
