I've got worries about this number. It rang me twice, and the bloke said he was from NatWest security. Sounded like he had an Eastern European accent too, which seemed a bit dodgy.

This bloke claimed to be from NatWest, knew the name of my business account but had no clue about the account number or sort code. He said he’d send me an email, so I asked for his email to check - I told him if he really was NatWest, he’d already have that info! When I asked if I could ask him some security questions about NatWest, he flat out refused. Then he tried to give me a helpline number to ring to confirm his identity. I just told him to send the email instead. It all felt so dodgy and, surprise surprise, no email ever showed up! Total scam if you ask me.

Had a call from Nat West about my business account, they rang from an 0161 number which I thought was odd. I phoned them back on 0345 009 0001 to check and it was definitely the legit Nat West team. But they said their system or whoever doesn’t seem to know that 0161 number, so they should probably sort that out so people don’t get suspicious.

When I later contacted the official NatWest number, they had no record of any problem. I raised my concerns with them about people likely thinking the 0161 number was dodgy, and they agreed to make the 0345 number clearer and easier to find. They were pretty understanding overall. I’d also got a letter from NatWest in July asking me to update my business info, and the link in the letter was definitely legit (www.natwest.com). The call was just to double-check a few bits of my business profile, so all sorted now.

Over the past week, this number has rung me three times about my Nat West Business account. I missed the first two calls and they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. On the third call, I was travelling on a train and told them I didn’t want to chat about my business there, then I ended the call after they gave me some contact numbers and a case reference. I’m planning to pop into my nearest Nat West branch soon. To be clear, I don’t actually have a business account, and even if I did, it wouldn’t be under my name since it’s a society account anyway.

This number rang me up the other day. The lady on the line had a very clear Eastern European accent and said she was from Natwest. She asked if I could spare about 45 minutes to answer some ‘questions’ about my business, just to check their records were correct. I got suspicious straight away and told her I’d just give Natwest’s official contact a ring instead. She then asked if I wanted her to send me their number, which I declined saying I already knew it. She ended the call right after that. Definitely a dodgy call, total scam. Someone really needs to inform Natwest and the police about this quick.
