After I pressed him for the third time about what this was all in aid of, he mentioned he’d ring me back later on that evening... then suddenly cut the line. Quite odd, really!

We received a rather peculiar call today while in Switzerland, and honestly, the English of the caller was utterly dreadful. My husband, who has impeccable command of the language, simply couldn't make head nor tail of what the chap was saying. In the end, he had to disconnect the line. The caller claimed to be ringing from Lyss, which is the nearest town to our abode. It’s clearly some sort of scammer at work. He seems to be fishing for numbers online and trying his luck with them.

I received a call from a chap with a distinct Indian or Pakistani accent, and the noise in the background was quite distracting. I decided to hang up before he completed his pitch. I suspect he was about to inform me of some purported issues with my computer that he could presumably fix. Quite the classic scam, isn’t it? Therefore, I suggest either ignoring such calls altogether or remaining silent if you do pick up. If you’re feeling a bit mischievous, let him ramble on without a peep from you.
