This rude woman with a strange accent called me claiming she could get me a grant to buy a new boiler. I told her I wasn’t interested as mine is fine. She then insisted my boiler is apparently 10 years old according to their files??? I asked her to erase my info from their system and she laughed, said "no chance," then hung up. 1471 showed me the number. Really, how do these lot get hold of our personal info?

On the 4th of June 2019, I received a flurry of calls-five in quick succession, to be precise. I picked up the phone once, but my instincts kicked in, prompting me to hang up as I had a nagging feeling it was a scam. The caller left a single voicemail, introducing himself as Dan, claiming to be from the Craven Arms Medical Practice. He insisted that my husband, Mr Galvagni, needed to speak to the doctor urgently, which raised a red flag since we're not registered with that practice. I've gone ahead and reported this incident to the Craven Arms Medical Practice; their manager will be looking into it. The message left by this Dan is still lingering on my voicemail, and when I dialled 1471, it revealed the number 01612426952. However, it appears that the number is unavailable. Quite baffling, to say the least!

Got a call from an Asian sounding bloke about some boiler grants. When I hung up, he kept ringing back. Then he started saying I’d been removed from my doctor’s list which isn’t true at all. Sounded really intimidating and could easily scare someone who’s more vulnerable.

Got a call from a bloke, sounded Asian, asking when the loft insulation was last done. I asked where he was, he said West Midlands. I asked which part? He said Walsall. I asked if he’s ever been to The Bescot. He said maybe later. Then I asked if he knew what goes on at The Bescot. He replied this isn’t why he called. I asked where he’s from originally, he said Timbuktu and then just hung up. Strange!

Got a call from a man with an Asian accent asking for Mrs (used my name). Instead of saying I was her, I told him she’d just gone out and asked if he could call again later. I wanted to have a chance to verify the number first. I’ll probably just ignore the calls if they ring again now.

Got called 6 times in about 20 minutes. Some bloke claiming it was about a boiler grant. He had an Asian accent and said he was from the grants department in Reading, using this number. I laughed and hung up, but he rang back 3 more times. On the 4th call, he spoke to my missus and claimed he was a doctor. After that, he rang twice more asking why I hung up. I was just messing about with him, but I can imagine this would really bother older folks. Proper muppets.

Then today, they’ve phoned me three times in just 30 minutes. Claimed they were from Shrewsbury, but when I asked precisely where in Shrewsbury, they said Welshpool instead!

I repeated I wasn’t interested and hung up once more. Then he called back again, so I told him again I wasn’t interested in any grants and said I was going to block his number.
