This number, 01612416061, has been ringing me non-stop for the past week-three calls to be precise! I couldn’t help but chuckle when the automated voice blared out that I should return the call or face prosecution. I'm utterly intrigued to see them in a courtroom setting! My advice? Just block the number like I did and keep finding the humour in it all.

Got a robo call 'bout some supposed HMRC debt from a Rachael Scott on 0161 241 5882. She claimed I've got a debt with HMRC that I’ve gotta pay right away or else they’ll take legal steps. I've already reported this to HMRC and also shared the info with their Cyber Security folks.

‭0161 241 5878‬ rang me up saying I was behind on my tax for 2016, 2017 and 2018 with a bill over £3,000! When I asked why I hadn’t had anything from HMRC in writing, the bloke claimed they don’t send letters, just call. Didn’t buy it, so I ended the call.

Got a voicemail saying I needed to ring back quickly. When I called from work, some bloke with an Indian accent picked up and claimed I’d committed three major tax crimes and owed money right away. I asked him to explain what I’d supposedly done, and he began rattling off something that sounded like a script. Then suddenly he asked who was chuckling in the background. After I told him I was actually at the office, he just ended the call. I’ve since blocked the number and let HMRC know about it. Total scam.

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC, telling me I owed some tax and to send money to an escrow account. I looked up the number here while talking to them and realised it was a scam. I then rang HMRC to let them know and also reported the incident to Action Fraud.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with HMRC, but it felt dodgy. The bloke was quite rude, had a funny accent and wouldn't let me get a word in or ask any questions. He kept going on about owing tax money and threatened to confiscate our stuff and blacklist us if it wasn’t paid today. When I asked him to send all the details in writing by post, he lost his temper and even threatened to call the cops. Definitely a scam in my opinion.
