I recently received a call from a firm that goes by the name of PN Promotions. They claimed to be verifying an order I’d supposedly made three months prior for advertising in a crime prevention magazine. When I informed them I hadn’t made any such order, they insisted they had a recording of my consent! I requested that they play this recording, but they were utterly evasive! Just three days later, an invoice landed on my doormat, riddled with inconsistencies. I’ve now endured two more calls; on the first, I informed them I had reported their dubious activities, and on the second, I simply disconnected the call. Yet, despite my clear disinterest, they have begun to send letters demanding payment. This scam has garnered plenty of attention online, and curiously, the police seem to have no record of that crime prevention magazine. Let me be clear, I will not be sending them a penny and have taken it upon myself to alert Action Fraud, Trading Standards, Consumer Direct, and the police. I urge others to follow suit, particularly with Action Fraud, as by sharing our experiences, we might just prevent these tricksters from targeting more unsuspecting individuals.

I informed them that I had not made any such order, but they insisted they possessed a recording of my agreement! Naturally, I requested to hear this recording, but they were rather evasive about it. Just a few days later, an invoice dropped into my mailbox, riddled with inconsistencies. Since then, I’ve had two more calls from them-on the first, I informed them I’d reported their dubious activities, and on the second, I simply cut the line. Nevertheless, they have continued to bombard me with letters demanding payment. This scam seems to be widely recognised. When I contacted the police, it became clear they were unaware of this so-called crime prevention magazine. I have absolutely no intention of paying and have duly reported this company to Action Fraud, Trading Standards, Consumer Direct, and the Police. I urge anyone else affected to do the same, especially with Action Fraud; by raising our voices, we might just put a stop to these unscrupulous individuals from duping others.
