When I asked if they'd like to leave a message, they didn't hesitate but then abruptly hung up. There was quite a bit of background chatter as well-sounded like a call centre or something similar. Quite the weird interaction, really!

I keep getting calls from this number almost every day without fail. To be honest, I’ve never answered, seeing as it’s a Manchester area code (01612). I reside down in the southwest, over 200 miles from there, and frankly, I have no connection whatsoever with anyone in Manchester. If it’s an unknown number, I usually let it ring through to voicemail. I believe if it’s something important, they ought to leave a message. But these folks? They never do.

A few hours ago, we received a call. Upon returning the call, we were subjected to some rather annoying hold music. Then, I could faintly hear what seemed to be a call centre in the background, only for them to abruptly hang up on us after a moment. Quite strange, really!

I've been receiving nuisance calls from this number and another one based in Manchester nearly every day, each time met with nothing but silence on the line (oddly enough, they reach both my mobile and home phone). Today, however, I actually managed to answer one of the calls, and the chap on the other end spun me a story about how the “motor insurance bureau” had tasked them with gathering data on the effects of car accidents in the UK. He asked if I could share some details about my accident from March. It was rather curious because he already knew my claim had been settled, yet still inquired about the extent of the damages. I pointed out that if he was already aware of the settlement, then surely he must know everything else too. He mentioned having “limited information from the insurance firms” but was coy about revealing which one. I made it clear I wouldn’t disclose any particulars unless he could assure me he was legitimate. I suggested he could write to me instead and firmly stated that I wasn’t about to share any information over the phone, especially when it was an unsolicited call. He ended the conversation quite politely...
