Had a call from AO pushing some extended insurance, they started off all friendly and polite. I told them I'd already got it covered with my home insurance, but they kept going on about it being just £5.49 a month. It’s not really a scam but pretty irritating. They kept pushing me to buy insurance for something I got from AO. The person on the phone was really persistent, maybe a bit too pushy if I’m honest. It’s definitely AO having a go at selling warranty insurance, just not very well. So it’s not some dodgy scam call. Problem is, there’s loads of scams out there where people ring up asking for your bank info with fake offers, so most folks these days won’t agree to anything just from a random cold call. Smart people don’t even give their name over the phone. If you want extra warranty, best to sort it online when you sign up your product and check your usual guarantee properly.

Had a call from AO Care trying to sell me protection for a new appliance I just bought. I was doing the school run and it was pouring down. The woman sounded pretty persuasive but I didn’t have my bank cards with me. She asked me to check my banking app for details, but I told her I don’t use any banking apps on my phone. She rang again around 4:30, but I was in the shower then. I also checked out L&G, where the cover would’ve gone through, and it was actually cheaper there anyway.

I’m AO and here’s how I handle it. I’ve had quite a few calls from them, and usually after this call I get an offer for a free collection of old appliances, which saves me the usual fee and the hassle of getting rid of the stuff myself! I agree to the insurance just to get them off the phone, then I cancel it through online banking so no one can try to change my mind. Maybe this isn’t how everyone deals with it, but it works for me! I’ve always found the callers polite and friendly, they’ve got a job to do, not the nicest one, so I just go along with it!

Just a couple days before I was supposed to get my Bosch tumble dryer from ao, after a "friendly" quick chat, the idiot tried to sell me insurance for £4.99 a month, saying because we're loyal customers and new gadgets are so complex, things break down way more. After ordering from a0.com on Sunday, they've bombarded me with calls trying to push insurance on me. I really can't stand how businesses exploit our details to force unwanted stuff on us. I didn’t ask for insurance nor want to spend extra on it, and this is definitely not how I signed up to have my phone number used. Since paying, I’ve had about 7 calls, which is way over the top. All I needed was the email confirmation with my payment and delivery info. Seriously, a0.com, stop pestering people!

I got a call claiming to be AO.com but it was just a sneaky way to push insurance that I neither wanted nor needed, all under the false excuse of “checking on my order”... Samsung fans might be chuffed with their manufacturers’ explanation though, since apparently these machines are “designed for efficiency.” A washing machine costing around £1k apparently won’t last as long as you'd expect and “aren’t made like they used to be.” They also used phrases like “can I just *confirm* your bank details” after already getting my name and address, which felt pretty misleading when they were actually trying to set up a brand new Direct Debit without any good reason. It’s quite frustrating, I usually buy online to avoid being hassled by this kind of sales pitch. From now on, I’ll just block the number because my email order confirmation is plenty enough!
