It’s not really a scam but pretty irritating. They kept pushing me to buy insurance for something I got from AO. The person on the phone was really persistent, maybe a bit too pushy if I’m honest. They even tried ringing me a couple more times with the number hidden! I found out the manufacturer’s own extended warranty was actually cheaper than what they were offering. I’d say best to just ignore and not get involved.

Just got a call from this number, and it’s a bit worrying. They started chatting about a washing machine I bought only a month back - even knew the brand and colour, which freaked me out. It’s definitely AO having a go at selling warranty insurance, just not very well. So it’s not some dodgy scam call. Problem is, there’s loads of scams out there where people ring up asking for your bank info with fake offers, so most folks these days won’t agree to anything just from a random cold call. Smart people don’t even give their name over the phone. If you want extra warranty, best to sort it online when you sign up your product and check your usual guarantee properly.

Had a call from AO Care trying to sell me protection for a new appliance I just bought. I was doing the school run and it was pouring down. The woman sounded pretty persuasive but I didn’t have my bank cards with me. She asked me to check my banking app for details, but I told her I don’t use any banking apps on my phone. She rang again around 4:30, but I was in the shower then. I also checked out L&G, where the cover would’ve gone through, and it was actually cheaper there anyway.

I’m AO and here’s how I handle it. I’ve had quite a few calls from them, and usually after this call I get an offer for a free collection of old appliances, which saves me the usual fee and the hassle of getting rid of the stuff myself! I agree to the insurance just to get them off the phone, then I cancel it through online banking so no one can try to change my mind. Maybe this isn’t how everyone deals with it, but it works for me! I’ve always found the callers polite and friendly, they’ve got a job to do, not the nicest one, so I just go along with it!

After ordering from a0.com on Sunday, they've bombarded me with calls trying to push insurance on me. I really can't stand how businesses exploit our details to force unwanted stuff on us. I didn’t ask for insurance nor want to spend extra on it, and this is definitely not how I signed up to have my phone number used. Since paying, I’ve had about 7 calls, which is way over the top.
