Just received a rather unsettling call from the number listed above on my mobile. They seemed to know my name, which was a bit dodgy. The caller claimed to be affiliated with the Inland Revenue, mentioning I was entitled to a tax refund and needed to provide my address for a claim form to be sent out. I feigned surprise, stating my accountant should have been in touch about that! To which she responded, rather taken aback, "Oh, you have an accountant?" I replied in the affirmative, and she fell strangely silent. So I hurriedly rattled off my accountant’s details and instructed her to direct any correspondence there. It was all very quiet on her end after that, prompting me to question her legitimacy. I ended the call with a firm goodbye, though I do wonder why I bothered to be courteous in the first place!
