A bloke on the other end asked for someone named Scott, but I haven't the foggiest who that is, and it certainly wasn't the name of the previous tenant either. I told him to hang on while we had the phone, and then we just left it off the hook while we popped out for some lunch-what a right laugh! They can foot the bill! I’ve lodged a complaint with BT and Nationwide Building Society, as they seemed to be giving off that vibe!

I've been receiving incessant calls from a firm named Nationwide Financial Services. At one point, they were ringing me up to ten times a day, then miraculously, it all went quiet for a few months. But lo and behold, they’ve resumed their barrage! What's particularly maddening is that when I try to pick up, they promptly hang up. It feels less like a conversation and more like a persistent game of harassment. Today, I decided I’d had enough. After they called me for the fourth time, I returned the favour and bombarded them with 100 calls in just under 5 minutes, constantly hanging up as soon as someone answered. On the final call, I allowed them to connect and greeted the obviously annoyed representative with, "Frustrating, isn’t it? Now kindly remove my number from your records, because from here on out, I'm going to return every call you make to me with a hundred times the effort!" He simply responded with a resigned “Fine,” and hung up. I had a good laugh about it! Perhaps if enough of us did this, their phone lines would be so choked with our calls that they wouldn’t be able to dial anyone else!

I found telepest.co.uk lists this number under a financial company that seems to operate under a bunch of different names. I used to be in a call centre (not dealing with finance though) and my guess is that whoever’s ringing is just making random calls to boost their numbers and hit their daily targets. The Information Commissioner’s Office are quite keen to get information about these calls, and you can report them online at http://ico.org.uk/concerns/marketing or give them a ring on 02890 278757. The number often comes up showing as "Nationwide," but I wouldn’t trust that name for sure. Hopefully this helps a bit!
